Does the epigenetic expression of obesity, insulin resistance and their metabolic sequelae contribute to brain senescence?

چکیده

Cognitive senescence and brain shrinkage have been reported in Alzheimer’s disease is often associated with obesity but the pathophysiologic factors which bring about neural declines remain unclear. A retrospective examination of Insulin resistance lean obese rats indicated that final body weights phenotype were more than double those their littermates throughout adulthood, carcass fat content at 10.5 months age 15-fold greater similarly fed littermates. In addition, life span was decreased by approximately 30% both male female compared to glycemic parameters developed significant insulin resistance, while lipid, protein DNA significantly reduced one third or ~10 age, when they had approached peak weights. These observations suggest onset progression its metabolic sequelae contributes shrinkage, content, key development cognitive aging this strain rat.

Myeloperoxidase: A Therapeutic Target for Preventing Insulin Resistance and the Metabolic Sequelae of Obesity?

Many lines of evidence indicate that insulin resistance is a key component of the metabolic syndrome, a cluster of cardiovascular risk factors comprising glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and obesity (1). Insulin resistance is also of central importance in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes, another major risk factor for atherosclerosis (1). However, the molecular mechanisms tha...

Endothelial Transcytosis of Insulin: Does It Contribute to Insulin Resistance?

Most research on insulin resistance has focused on impaired signaling at the level of target tissues like skeletal muscle. Insulin delivery is also important and includes recruitment and perfusion of capillaries bearing insulin, but also the transit of insulin across the capillary endothelium. The mechanisms of this second stage (insulin transcytosis) and whether it contributes to insulin resis...

Obesity, insulin resistance and the metabolic syndrome.

There has been a remarkable increase in interest during the past two decades in the relation between cardiovascular risk factors in children and the development of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and type 2 diabetes in adulthood. Initial studies concentrated on individual factors such as lipids and blood pressure. However, as research in this areahas evolvedandpediatricianshave ...

Metabolic endotoxemia initiates obesity and insulin resistance.

Diabetes and obesity are two metabolic diseases characterized by insulin resistance and a low-grade inflammation. Seeking an inflammatory factor causative of the onset of insulin resistance, obesity, and diabetes, we have identified bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) as a triggering factor. We found that normal endotoxemia increased or decreased during the fed or fasted state, respectively, on ...
